Odem Medical is developing a new approach and technology for synchronizing the contraction of the cardiac chambers. The products presently under development would simplify and optimize the treatment for patients suffering from cardiac asynchrony.
Approximately 15% of all Heart Failure (HF) patients suffer from asynchronous contraction of the cardiac ventricles (typically, manifested by a delay in the contraction of the left ventricle). This deforms the normal cardiac contraction, and results in reduction of cardiac pumping. HF Patients with cardiac asynchrony suffer from a progressive deterioration in their quality of life.
The conventional/current treatment for cardiac asynchrony is cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). However, the current CRT protocols suffer from serious gaps, and up to one-third of the CRT population do not respond adequately to this course of treatment.
Odem Medical was established in 2006 in association with Meytag High-Tech Ventures and the support of well known cardiologists.
